The Opportunity

A dynamic Private Equity backed life sciences business with a sizeable international footprint is currently seeking a Group Accountant with strong technical finance skills to come in for at least a six month stint and assist with an array of business critical pieces of work. It has been an exciting and record breaking financial year for the firm – involving impressive growth and multiple successful acquisitions. You’ll get the chance to work with a world beating finance team, within a key portfolio business of one of the world’s best known Private Equity house.

The Role

As the company go through the close of their financial year and produce their year-end accounts, you will be integral in consolidating accounts from the company’s 80 (approx.) entities, and producing the group accounts under IFRS 101; this will involve consolidating accounts from overseas in a multitude of different currencies. Especially with the aforementioned duties, you must be able to hit the ground running and complete these without much instruction from other team-member due to them having lots to complete themselves. When the year-end accounts have been completed by the end of July, you will get involved in acquisition accounting for the companies that the business has acquired in the last year. Furthermore, you will get some exposure to process improvement work around the company’s controls and reporting procedures.

The Requirements

To apply for this role you will:

  • Be a qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA) with previous audit or statutory accounting experience; either having worked within an accounting practice, before then working in a role in industry, or having learnt how to do the above in an demanding industry setting.
  • Have experience working in a group finance function, with multiple entities overseas, in which you will have done multi-currency consolidations.
  • Be able to produce financial statements under IFRS and have been integral in a year-end close process.
  • Have excellent Excel skills, since the company do not have a reporting tool; you will be required to extract the numbers you are working with out of the ERP system onto an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Have ideally worked within a Private Equity-backed business, although this is not necessarily a prerequisite. If this is not the case, you will be expected to have had experience working within a fast-paced environment, in which you’ll have worked in a hands-on role, whilst also having had senior exposure.
  • Have an extremely meticulous attention to detail and very strong technical skills, as well as having a self-sufficient, ‘can-do’ attitude to work, enabling you to tackle difficult tasks head-on, without necessarily relying on other senior members of the team to present you with solutions.
