A rare and exciting opportunity for a commercial Head of Finance based in Truro, Cornwall. This is a pivotal role within a rapidly expanding brand driven business operating within the food & drink sector. The business comprises a popular visitor centre and manufacturing facility producing a range of products that are becoming increasingly more available across the UK. With new product development ongoing and ambitious growth targets, we are looking for a qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) senior finance professional with a demonstrable track record in delivering high level commercial support to the Board. This is a challenging hands-on position where the successful candidate will need a strong understanding of key business drivers and the confidence to challenge the status quo. In addition to being responsible for overseeing the day to day operation of an experienced finance team, the focus of this role is in the delivery of high quality management information.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Supporting the senior management team by adding value via the provision of MI and analysis on company performance including the review of KPI's, trends, margins (by brand & category)
  • Being an integral part of the planning process and developing financial controls and reporting systems that reflect the needs of a growing business
  • Working with the finance team (including two qualified direct reports) to ensure the robust management of all control accounts and all aspects of the accounting and reporting structures and processes (fixed assets, stock management, costing etc.)
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly management accounts, forecasts and budgets with appropriate commentary for submission to shareholders and the SMT
  • Managing the year end process and overseeing compliance across all business areas 
  • Instituting effective internal audit processes and checks and liaising with the external auditors
  • Providing ad hoc commercial information to managers (project costing & planning etc.)
  • Via your direct reports, ensuring the finance team is adequately resourced and managed 

The Candidate:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified with a minimum of 3 years PQE ideally within a manufacturing business. 
  • Exceptional analytical skill and the ability to demonstrate a track record in the delivery of high quality MI
  • Strong IT skills with advanced Excel and a good knowledge of GL systems
  • Highly commercial with a passion and understanding of business drivers
  • Confident with numbers and using computer packages
