Interim Group Finance Controller



Contribute as a high profile member of the Group finance team by helping to create a top class operations-focused Group Finance organisation, recognised as such by the whole Group.

Liaise and build relationships with group subsidiaries and management to ensure robust financial control, accurate and timely reporting and the propagation of best practice throughout the Group.

Maintain and develop a high standard of financial reporting within the Group in terms of integrity, speed, relevance and quality ensuring that the reporting systems serve the needs to the business.

Ensure compliance with group accounting policies, IFRS and statutory reporting requirements; identify forthcoming accounting developments.

Ensure the timely, accurate and concise preparation of financial and business information reflecting business performance.

Project manage the Group budgeting, forecasting and statutory reporting processes.

Manage, develop and motivate a small head office accounts team.


Management Reporting

Preparation of consolidated Group monthly management accounts, draft Executive Report, and associated supporting schedules

Preparation of annual budget consolidation, presentations and commentaries, and supporting schedules. Overall management of the process and adherence to timetable.

Statutory Reporting

Preparation of consolidated half and full year Group statutory results and report and accounts and supporting schedules.

  • Project manage reporting process.
  • Liaise with report designers/printers, option valuers and actuaries.
  • Coordinate work with Group tax, treasury, Company Secretary and legal departments.
  • Primary day-to-day contact for external auditors.
  • Perform impairment testing on Group assets.
  • Prepare supporting pack for Group CEO/CFO.

Internal Control

Produce and maintain the Group accounting manual.

Site visits to subsidiaries to perform balance sheet and process/control reviews.

Liaise with the outsourced internal audit function to ensure that the scope of work for each review is agreed with all stakeholders and work is delivered on a timely and effective basis.

Business Support

Ad-hoc technical advice, support and analyses for Group and subsidiary management.

Transactional support including acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration, disposals, restructurings and circulars and identification and resolution of any accounting issues.

Work as a business partner to the R&D and HR functions to enable them to understand their costs on a monthly basis, prepare their budgets and 5YPs and help them to make effective decisions.
