Graduate Accountant - £19-22k + Study

MERJE Ltd have been instructed to recruit a career defining Graduate Accountant role for a leading Retail brand based in Liverpool.

Reporting into the Finance Manager the Graduate Accountant will work alongside a group of both part and fully qualified accountants and you will be given an opportunity to take responsibility very early on in your career. Graduate Accountant duties:

• The role will include both the production and co-ordination of the team’s deliverables in relation to financial planning. This will include both short and long term forecasts.
• Perform variance analysis in order to understand and explain why costs have out-turned differently to budget/prior year and follow through on any actions in order to mitigate impacts on the financial year’s profitability
• You will proactively build key relationships and act as a true finance business partner to a number of areas, ensuring that there is transparency and a thorough understanding of the cost base.
• You will be responsible for delivering insightful, effective and timely financial information. A key focus will be on the analysis of the data and working alongside the business areas to understand the key drivers of cost.
• You will be encouraged to challenge costs and identify areas of opportunity to be more cost effective and maximise profitability, working with the business areas to put ideas into practice.

Graduate Accountant Profile:

• Possess a minimum of 2:1 degree classification, have strong academics and be highly numerate
• Commitment to study your chosen accreditation (CIMA/ACCA qualification), whilst working full time.
• Ability to perform well as part of a team, working calmly under pressure and delivering to deadlines.
• Great attention to detail with strong interpersonal skills whilst having excellent communication skills across all levels.
• Highly organised, diligent and structured individual with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
