Sellick Partnership has been engaged to recruit a truly Commercial Finance Project Lead / Business Partner for a very successful and instantly recognisable retail business based in Manchester.

 

They have outperformed their competitors over the past few years and will continue to do so by driving their strategic plan, delivering further improvements and changes that will make a real impact on the whole business. This is a truly value-add role that works closely with the executive management team.

 

The role holder will be the Finance lead for the company's current most significant change Programmes. You will be expected to take responsibility for challenging, influencing and directing a host of internal and external stakeholders on areas such as benefits delivery and cost control. You will be accountable for providing annual, periodic, weekly and ad hoc commercial reporting and insight back to the business.

 

This role will be the key gatekeeper of the Business Case underpinning this £100m+ spend programme and is expected to maintain the appropriate level of tracking and maintenance of the business case at all times. You will provide professional advice and guidance, sharing expertise and information to support effective decision making, identifying impacts, continuous business improvements, identifying and highlighting risks and opportunities and development of the strategic plan.

The person

 

The successful applicant will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified coming from a similar role and being able to demonstrate being an effective decision maker, having commercial awareness and being a finance lead in a variety of projects, where you have driven value add and commercial insight /benefit. Experience within the retail, FMCG, multisite sectors would be desirable.

 

You will have strong business partnering, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills and in particular the ability to communicate, direct, challenge and influence senior level individuals. Focussed on delivering specific objectives, you will be proactive, adaptable, dynamic and self-motivated with a desire to find and deliver improvements. In addition you will have the ability to work independently and together with other personnel both finance and non-finance.

 

You will have a creative and innovative approach to problem solving and analysis; delivery orientated - able to work in pressurised environments, meet multiple deadlines and manage own priorities.

 

You will also be able to demonstrate business acumen and ability to gain knowledge across the breadth of a variety of functions. Experience of translating strategy into operational procedures is essential. Good communication skills - able to translate financial information and create successful business relationships. You will also be able to take a 'big picture' view with demonstrable internal consultancy and influencing skills, while possessing a keen eye for the detail.
