My client is highly acquisitive, rapidly growing AIM listed Plc based in central Manchester.

Due to the ongoing growth, driven by a buy and build strategy (M&A), an opportunity has arisen for a newly created UK Financial Controller role.

The successful candidate will be required to provide oversight on all areas of finance from managing the finance team (10+ FTEs), preparing, developing and analysing key financial information through to the application of key financial controls for the business.

As the business has gone on an acquisition trail, UK reporting has only recently been developed and the role holder will be responsible for enhancing that reporting. With responsibility for the finance function, you will also be required to work with current team to improve the level of oversight over key financial controls (including bank reconciliations, payroll, AP, AR) to ensure the business manages its financial risks appropriately.

The role holder will be a qualified accountant with several years PQE, with significant experience in change management, team management and financial reporting. Additionally the role holder will understand the financial control and reporting environment expected of a UK listed entity.

However, as well as looking for a technically strong candidate, we are also looking for a candidate who either has previous experience of working operationally, or who is keen to add that experience to their CV. There is a real culture and desire within the business for finance to be leading the business and influencing strategic decision making rather than just being a reporting function.

The financial information produced will be used to inform business decision making, requiring high quality, useful and timely information to allow the business to monitor progress against objectives. Additionally the UK business results will form a largest element of the Group’s external reporting.

Reporting to the UK Finance Director, you will have significant interaction with several members of the UK and Group management team and you will be the key member of the UK finance team ensuring an efficient external audit process.

This is a business with a fantastic growth story, with opportunities for progression and promotion plentiful within the Group. This is also a very fast paced and hardworking environment that requires resilient and truly ambitious individual to take on this great developmental role.
