BTG Recruitment has a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK's best known retail businesses based out of Knowsley. With hundreds of stores across the UK, and plans to open new stores this year, this is an exciting time to join the successful, vibrant and expanding retail business.

We are looking to recruit a Accounts Assistant to join the talented team. Reporting in to the Head of Commercial Finance your main remit will be to provide in depth analysis of cost, profit and performance across all trading areas. You will have great exposure to the business; working closely with the business, aiding them in making sound conclusions following your analysis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for proactively building key relationships and acting as a business partner to a number of areas across the business.
  • You will be responsible for delivering insightful, effective and timely financial information to upgrade peoples understanding of the key drivers of cost.
  • You will be encouraged to challenge costs and identify areas of opportunity to be more cost effective and maximise profitability.
  • You will be required to accurately account for costs associated with specific areas of the business in line with International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Cost forecasting, both short and long term.
  • You will be required to perform variance analysis in order to understand and explain why costs have out-turned differently to budget/prior year and follow through on any actions in order to mitigate impacts on the financial year's profitability.

Skills required:

  • Minimum of 2:1 degree classification, academically strong and highly numerate.
  • Part qualified CIMA student and commitment to continue to achieve full qualification.
  • Confident in managing changing priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Hard working and committed to deliver high quality work, exceeding expectations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confident and engaging when dealing with stakeholders.
