Job title: Financial Controller

Reports to: FD

up to £60,000

Main Purpose of Role

To ensure the overall completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all extrusion financial reporting requirements, within the company and externally as well as to manage the Extrusion Finance Function.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage the extrusion Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A)
  • Production of monthly management accounts in accordance with company requirements
  • To interpret financial data and identify opportunities for business improvement
  • Improve standards of business partnering within the organisation to embed improvements using support and challenge
  • Develop the use of problem solving techniques across the organisation
  • Standardise and develop data analysis in collaboration with the central FP&A team
  • To co-ordinate the annual AOP process as well as periodic forecast reviews
  • Work closely with Financial Accounting, Credit Control and Internal Control Teams

Ensure that all operating values and compliance procedures are adhered to at all times, including quality management, health and safety, legal stipulation and environmental policies as well as exercising a professional duty of care.

Technical Competence

  • Supply information when required to allow completion of tasks, reporting in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with requirements
  • Assisting with completing all statutory accounting requirements in a timely and accurate manner, including tax packs and full accounts
  • Presenting financial results and informative analysis  in an appropriate format and level of detail
  • Ensuring that all financial reports and controls are of sufficient standard to avoid any serious audit deficiencies, either as part of Sox or year end audit
  • Ensuring the standard costing system is accurate and kept up to date
  • Producing the extrusion budgets and forecasts in accordance with internal and external reporting requirements
  • Effective people manager, tackling difficult conversations and developing skills to meet current and future business needs
  • Dealing with queries in accordance with their requirements

Skills/Knowledge

  • Qualified management accountant with experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent knowledge of UK accounting principles and GAAP (generally accepted accounting practice)
  • Previous experience of managing and developing a finance team
  • Strong Excel skills and knowledge of ERP system preferably Oracle
  • Highly numerate, analytical, logical and trustworthy with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate confidentially and effectively with all departments, adopting a Business Partnering approach
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently to tight deadlines
  • Good understanding of internal controls preferably Sarbanes Oxley
  • Good understanding of business processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support the Senior Management Team
