A fantastic Systems Accountant opportunity has arisen with our market leading client, based in Hertford. This is a minimum 12 month fixed term opportunity, and looking for an ASAP start.
Our client, a market leading business based in Hertford, are looking to recruit a Systems Accountant to be responsible for providing effective and efficient administration of existing finance systems as well as providing expertise in upcoming system projects and process improvements.
The post holder will oversee the finance systems usage and data maintenance as well as providing support to the finance function in the drive to improve processes. A primary objective will be to maintain a key involvement in existing and upcoming system projects principally related to upgrading and developing existing systems, the implementation of a reporting and analytics environment, the implementation of new group-wide ERP system and the adoption of best practice month end financial close processes.
Duties & responsibilities:
- Become an expert user of their systems and act as a first point of contact for any queries incoming from the finance teams and the wider business
- Become an expert user of other Business Systems both procured and internally developed and act as a first point of contact for any queries incoming from the finance teams and the wider business
- Manage and maintain financial setups and parameters
- Oversee and manage the chart of accounts usage
- Oversee and manage changes to the chart of accounts and business structure
- Ensure appropriate change management and approval processes are in place and followed
- Support the finance teams with the transition of new system and processes finance teams
- Undertake requirements gathering & user consultation sessions to gain background project information
- Work with Business Analysts to process map finance processes to aid in the delivery of best possible solutions
- Provide a bridge between the Finance and ICT teams to best facilitate end project solutions.
- Work on improving existing systems by studying current usage practices & make recommendations for improvements
- Manage and facilitate effective User Acceptance Testing for new & updated systems, fixes & enhancements
- Facilitate business process workshops/training
- Identify and provide improvements to existing Excel documents used to manage the business on a day to day basis.
- Provide VBA modelling knowledge to automate repeated manual processes and debug/improve existing code where required
- Understand and document reporting and dashboard requirements of the team and drive the development of the functionality in conjunction with
Skills required:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or QBE.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (Macro level ideally), including - Advanced Formulas, VBA, PowerPivot, etc. (essential)
- Excellent other Microsoft office skills, including - Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. (essential)
- Database and System Management skills (essential)
- Reporting and Analytical system knowledge (essential)
- Excellent stakeholder management skills (required)
- Familiarity with accounting practices (required)
- Excellent communications skills, both written and oral (required)
- Familiarity with financial process best practice methodologies (desirable)
- SQL (or equivalent) knowledge (desirable)
