Our client, a London based Retail business with a global customer base are looking to hire a Group Financial Controller into their Head Office.

The business is PE backed and has grown by 20%+ per annum and will continue to grow at this rate for the next 5 years.  

This is a technical accounting role which will define the processes, manage the financial information and inspire the transactional finance team.  This role will report to the Finance Director and be based at the head office.

Job description

  • Be part of a genuine team, which works together to support the business growth and improve the financial processes, controls and reporting.
  • Lead and develop the transactional finance teams (AR and AP) to post first time, on time and in full every time.
  • Manage the timetable, monthly cut-off and accounting adjustments for all the group entities
  • Prepare the draft Financial Statements for all the group entities in full compliance with FRS102.  To partner with the professional advisors to ensure that the Financial Statements are fully completed and filed on time.
  • Manage all aspect of the group taxation calculations and to obtain the professional advice required.
  • Manage the control and reporting of Fixed Assets and ensure adequate insurance is maintained to meet the needs of all the group companies.
  • Ensure compliance with the UK and local country Company Secretarial requirements.
  • Propose the cash flow (multiple currencies) and FX hedge positions for the group through monthly, quarterly and annual processes to the FD for discussion and presentation to banking partners.
  • Understand the detail of the financial accounting within the ERP tool works (Navision 2016).

Competencies

  • Qualified Accountant, ideally ACA qualified and ‘Big 4’ trained
  • Significant technical accounting expertise in the preparation of consolidated group accounts and the presentation of financial statements under FRS102. 
  • Team Management experience
  • Retail, FMCG experience ideal but not essential
  • Real attention to detail with the curiosity to investigate and the tenacity to get the nub of an underlying issue (be three questions deep, rather than accepting of the first answer provided).
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills in Excel (use of pivot and getpivot is expected) and PowerPoint
  • Desire to grow finance career within a rapid growth PE backed business
