Purpose of the Role:

A key role within the central finance team. Managing a team of three, and overseeing all aspects of tax, cash management and financial accounting for the group.  This role would suite a solution orientated, organised person who enjoys working in a dynamic organisation. This role works closely with the larger finance team, and external advisors and stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

Oversee the group tax function:

 

  • Manage and review the work of the tax accountant, overseeing and ensuring the accurate and timely submission of the group tax returns, the VAT returns.
  • Working closely with company’s advisors on tax issues.
  • Keep tax risk register up to date and prepare board updates and update Financial Controller and CFO on tax issues as they arise.
  • Year-end tax not preparation and review, including deferred tax workings.

 Financial accounting and audit

 

 

  • Take ownership of the group’s more complex areas of accounting, including impairment review, purchase price allocation, exceptional items, derivatives etc.
  • Accounting for bank and shareholder loans, and intercompany accounting
  • Oversee and manage the assistant accountant, reviewing fixed asset accounting.
  • Be primary contact during the group audit.
  • Own the group consolidation, annual report and statutory accounting reporting.
  • Balance sheet reviews.

 Manage day to day treasury

 

 

  • Manage and oversee the work of the cash book analyst, including review of bank reconciliations.
  • Managing day to day relationships with the groups banks
  • Overseeing the daily cashflow forecasts, in GBP and EUR.
  • Monitoring of debt covenants.
  • Ensuring swap, interest and debt payments are made in time.
  • Authorisation of BACS and internet banking payments.

 Capex and Fixed Asset accounting 

 

 

  • Working with the property director, maintain the groups new openings/refurb schedule.
  • Do the period end Capex accruals
  • Oversee the fixed asset processing and fixed asset note produces monthly by the Assistant Accountant.

 General ledger

 

 

  • Take ownership of the chart of accounts
  • Working with the Assistant Accountant effect all changes to the general ledger, ensuring these are properly authorised.

 Experience

Fully qualified ACA accountant, or equivalent, with demonstrated statutory accounting and tax experience.
