About the role
We are looking for someone to join the organisation as Lead Finance Specialist.
Leading a team of team of 14 professional specialists you will set and own the financial rules for the authority and will work with the new Council structure with its emphasis on self-service and case-work to ensure effective, proactive and responsive delivery of financial information and support. You will act as a key and trusted advisor on financial matters supporting the senior management team, Executive and political members, and external customers, partners, other agencies and stakeholders.
You will work proactively and collaboratively with managers across all areas of the Council to monitor and manage overall performance, including service and financial planning to ensure the finance specialist service delivers and supports on the outcomes agreed in the Corporate Plan.
As Deputy S151 Officer you will also be accountable for the financial integrity of the authority and ensuring that the Council discharges its financial responsibilities including the submission of final accounts, other financial returns and grant claims.
About You
To be considered for the role you must be a qualified accountant with extensive senior management and leadership experience some of which would have been gained in the local government sector. You must also be able to demonstrate excellent team and stakeholder management skills combined with strong organisation, presentation and communication skills.
As part of the selection process, candidates selected for interview will be required to undertake a psychometric assessment and deliver a presentation. There will also be a competency based interview.
