Financial Controller

Based in Hertfordshire, our client is a fast growing ecommerce business looking for qualified accountant to join them as Financial Controller.

This job would suit an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified all round accountant to be responsible for managing the day to day finances of the business as well as everything from management accounting to FP&A and commercial finance work.

 

This company is a successful ecommerce business which is seeing continued growth in its market and is at a point of moving from a small to medium sized business. This has resulted in the requirement for some short term improvements across the financial accounting and reporting areas as well as the Managing Director needing support in understanding the data for the business and commercially what this means for future decisions.

 

The successful individual will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong day to day accounting experience with good technical controls and reporting knowledge. The position will also need to look at company performance around products, regions, margins etc. so previous experience in commercial finance and business partnering is imperative. Good communication skills are essential in working with senior management and stakeholders in the business. Good systems experience would also be advantageous - ideally with medium sized finance systems, e.g. Navision, Great Plains, Sageline200, CODA etc.

 

Duties will include:

  • Managing the day to day accounting and bookkeeping operations including the review of general ledger, journal entries, bank statement reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable
  • Preparing of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (with variance analysis) to tight deadlines
  • Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial control, systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting
  • Work with leadership team as necessary including the development and analysis of annual budget
  • Management of cash resources of the Company and assist in the preparation of periodic cash flow projections
  • Partnering with the Managing Director, using data and analysis to understand and improve commercial decision making around both operational costs and top line revenue performance.
  • Various ad hoc financial and operational analyses and contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
