Axiom are recruiting for an exciting and truly dynamic PE backed business in the Oxfordshire area who are highly acquisitive and in a state of constant growth and change. This role is hugely broad, you will need to be a strong technical accountant but with commercial acumen and able to manage and run various projects autonomously.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the purpose of this role is to provide accounting support to the business at an exciting phase of development and growth.  Primary responsibilities involve providing technical and operational support within the Financial Control team as well as working with the Financial Planning & Analysis Team to develop robust budgets and forecasts. You will be the bridge between finance and the M&A team helping to bring more clarity and understanding to the management reporting, and get involved in accounting issues for acquisitions pre and post purchase.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Planning, preparation and co-ordination of budgets and forecasts relating to Branch costs, Group costs and Cashflow
  • Work with the financial control team at month end to reconcile branch results and understand branch cost base and identify opportunities to optimise
  • Quarterly and annual covenant compliance reporting
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors on technical matters relating to new acquisitions and assist where required on integration of new companies into the group structure
  • Technical input into various accounting policies such as capitalisation of project costs
  • Work with Group FC to develop processes for optimising cash management, deposits and hedging
  • Provide technical input to and review of statutory accounts
  • Support the Group FC on other ad-hoc matters including collapse of the existing  Group Company structure, entity rationalisation and acquisition accounting

  • Our Client operates in the highly competitive financial services market. The Group is equity finance backed and has completed a number acquisitions in the last year, with more to follow.

     

    Knowledge, Skills & Experience
    • Qualified accountant essential ( > 3 years PQE)  and evidence of commercial finance knowledge and experience within a strong control environment
    • Able to influence through developing internal and external relationships at a senior level
    • Advanced excel skills
    • Previous experience of Sage Line 50 useful but not essential

    • Commercial experience: ability to process data from multiple sources into  accurate accounts with clear audit trail  and tight controls
    • Vision to identify and implement further process improvements to simplify and streamline the reporting cycle
    • Building effective relationships with the business
    • Ability to manage deliverables within tight timescales
    Working Relationships
    • The role reports to the Financial Controller but will work closely with the branch managers, marketing department, finance team and the group executive team.
