Detailed Job Description

Responsibilities for the Finance Manager include the following:-

  • Managing the accounting function for the ABF group Head Office
  • Control of budgets/forecasts for all cost centre managers, payroll and head office debt and cash flow
  • Supervision of purchase, sales and general ledgers
  • Supervision of complex head office payroll (includes share based payments) (circa 200 employees)
  • Managing the accounting function for the ABF plc legal entity, intermediate holding companies and other head office companies
  • Managing the accounting function for a number of property companies (portfolio of commercial/residential properties)
  • Oversight of Treasury back office activities
  • Extensive involvement in tax or treasury projects
  • Supervision of intercompany mismatch reporting for the group
  • Managing a team of six
  • Liaison with group auditors

Main Tasks:

Accounting

  • Supervision of preparation of monthly packs for ABF plc and head office companies
  • Analysis of ABF plc head office results each period against budget/forecast
  • Management of foreign exchange exposure in ABF plc and intermediate holding companies
  • Review and challenge of control account reconciliations
  • Preparation/review of various analyses of P&L and BS accounts each period and at year end/half year, specifically ABF plc debt and interest
  • Management of royalties and interest on intercompany funding/loan accounts
  • Involvement in tax or treasury driven restructurings
  • Managing the pension contributions process including challenge of budgets/forecasts and actual reporting
  • Management of the intercompany mismatch process

Legal entity reporting

  • Preparation of monthly reporting packs and statutory accounts for ABF plc, and head office companies

Treasury back office

  • Supervision of Treasury back office team to ensure compliance with Treasury policies
  • Liaison with treasury front office regarding any system changes or new types of transaction entered into

Payroll

  • Manage payroll processing and administration including P11Ds, P60, P35 returns etc

Candidate's Profile

What you'll need:

  • ACA or overseas equivalent
  • Significant post-qualification experience
  • Sound understanding of group reporting and consolidation accounting
  • Strong control consciousness
  • Working knowledge of Corporate tax, UK VAT and PAYE requirements
  • Working knowledge of latest regulatory developments such as UK Anti-Bribery Act and iXBRL
  • Good understanding of different types of foreign exchange transactions and appropriate accounting
  • Strong people management skills and ability to interact with senior management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Excel to include data manipulation
  • Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics G/L an advantage but not essential
  • Strong technical accounting skills with good analytical ability
  • Enthusiastic team player with good leadership skills and a positive attitude to development

  • Able to prioritise and willingness to take ownership
