The Business:

Working in partnership with Seymour John, our client produces a well-known brand of premium products which you may find in your home.  Their thriving UK business is based out of Telford and they have a European parent company with a strong global position and a turnover in excess of £1bn. In the eyes of the parent company, the advertised role has bought huge benefits to their other businesses and they are keen to sponsor this newly created position in the UK organisation.

The Opportunity:

Your aim will be to deliver analysis of the business’s margin performance and insightful information to the business to improve commercial decision making.  Your will partner closely with the Commercial Director in charge of the sales and marketing functions and be able to present to and influence top executives.  As such this is seen as a senior role within the organisation with the potential to evolve.

  • Provide analysis of customer terms & rebates as well as general cost of doing business with customers
  • Provide analysis of customer and article profitability (regular Contribution Margin & Portfolio analysis including initiation of counter-steering measures)
  • Provide analysis for effective management of sales promotions & sales activity to ensure achievement of promotional efficiency targets for the relevant business. 
  • Analysis and assembling of the proposed annual sales plan / budget, incl. data-entry in BI-tool
  • Support the strategy of growing branded sales in preference of own label products.
  • Support parent company with the annual budgeting, Forecast 1 and Forecast 2 as well as annual closing processes
  • Provide analysis of internal sales data to reveal trends and relationships
  • Attend regular sales and marketing meetings for parent company
  • Provide analysis of the relevant costs as a factor in setting product sales prices
  • Review new sales opportunities, ensuring the proposed commercial plan delivers expected key measures
  • Provide commercial activity reporting to parent company Management
  • Support & development of financial and sales tools (BI)
  • Coordination and communication of changes in regular reporting to meet expectations from the parent company
  • Continuous improvement of efficiency in area of responsibility
  • Continuous communication with central Market Controlling functions at parent company’s Sales HQ in Europe

Essential Attributes

  • Evidence of strong intellect through a combination of academic studies and work based achievement.
  • 5 years of business experience in area of Financial Analysis
  • Possess the necessary gravitas & business acumen to influence & advise senior management on areas where target margin not being achieved 
  • Proven track record of working with sales management & instituting measures to improve customer/product profitability & margins 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of & exposure to budget & forecasting  processes
  • Experience in international Business useful.
  • Willing to travel to Europe 2 to 4 times per year.
