Financial Systems Analyst – 6 month contract
Circa £250 per day

The Opportunity:
Your role is to ensure that finance systems are performing reliably and support the business in meeting its deliverables against tight reporting deadlines. You will maintain finance system hierarchies and ensure that change is managed in a controlled manner. You will work closely with IT to provide key MI to the business and will also be involved in longer-term improvements and finance system strategy.
Your role will be a mix of reactive and proactive effort in the maintenance and development of these systems.
You will help repair finance system issues, identifying the causes and co-ordinating fixes, handling all communications between finance and IT throughout the process. You’ll need to project manage solutions, prioritise and understand when to escalate issues to achieve the required outcome and timeframes. You will also maintain mapping tables and system hierarchies to ensure data flows reach the right destination accurately and on time.
The role also includes oversight and monitoring of finance system performance, e.g. journal processing speeds and key MI deliverables. You will be able to pick up on deteriorating issues and provide proactive fixes to keep finance running smoothly.
The person in role, will also need to look ahead from the current issues, and focus on long term improvements and strategy for finance. Someone who is able to challenge the status quo, and identify improvements and risks as they arise. They will need to be a positive, energetic and robust person who enjoys problem solving and is able to operate well under pressure to deliver results with resources from other areas.
What we are looking for:
- Strong Excel and mathematical skills
- Communicates effectively at all levels, including written and oral presentation, engaging customers and stakeholders as appropriate to role
- Demonstrates good organisational skills, with an analytical and methodical approach to work
- Understands the commercial environment and actively shares new ideas or challenges where appropriate
- Ability to work very well in a team or independently, consulting and involving others appropriately in the wider function and business
- Experience of project management and business improvement
- Strong accounting and controls knowledge – at least 3 years’ experience in an accounting position
- Good knowledge and understanding of financial systems, e.g. Oracle, Business Objects.
- Good knowledge of best practice accounting processes and principles within a large organisation
- Experience of reducing manual work with report and automated solutions
