RattrayParkin are recruiting for an interim Financial Controller to join a rapid growth PE backed SME business within the service sector based near Castle Donington.

This is a maternity cover role for a minimum of 12 months.

Reporting to a remote, part-time FD, you will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and meaningful information to support the growth of the business. Effectively, this is a number 1 finance position on-site. You will be supported by one Accounts Assistant (part-time) and one full-time Management Accountant.

You will work closely with the management team to develop their understanding of financial issues, raise the profile of the finance team and provide effective support for decision making. In addition you will provide focussed information for the Board of Directors and be the focal point for cash and cost management.

The business is growing and is putting in place new processes, reporting and improved MI systems. Not only will you perform the day to day duties but you will also support the continued development of the finance function.

  • Production of Monthly Management Accounts & variance analysis
  • Production of Annual Budget & re-budget
  • Production of Forecasts
  • Production of Cashflow forecasts
  • Production of Weekly Activity Reports
  • Coordination and reporting of KPIs
  • Management of VAT
  • Production of Monthly payroll
  • Production of Balance Sheet Schedules
  • Analysis of Stock movements
  • Manage Supplier payments
  • Management of Block Landing Fees
  • Invoice Coding
  • Ad Hoc Project work

As well as the technical accounting skills to undertake the role, you must be able to demonstrate the softer skills to support a change management process and engage with business stakeholders at all levels.

You will be:

  • Ideally qualified ACCA/ACMA/ACA - QBE may be considered.
  • Experienced in a similar role, working in a small team with responsibility for the whole finance function – both MA and FA.
  • Hands on and comfortable with lower level finance duties
  • Able to challenge figures
  • Engaging and approachable
  • Flexible and open minded approach to your work
  • Motivated to add value and improve processes
  • Comfortable communicating at all levels of an organisation

This is an exciting role that would allow you to use an existing skillset but also add value and contribute to an expanding business. You must be comfortable with producing top level management accounts and reports but also rolling your sleeves up to deal with the more mundane duties.

Ideally, you would be able to commence from early August or early September at the latest to allow for a 4-8 week handover.
