Investment Group of an English family which has a long history of successfully trading and investing in property, private equity and assets, is looking for an experienced all-round Accountant to join its team.
Working in a small team of two, this role will report to the CFO and carry out a full range of accounting duties from day to day transactional duties to all month end and year end reporting and analytical requirements. The role is probably 30-40% transactional and 60-70% reporting in focus. Therefore the role is suited to a studier of ACCA or CIMA (or equivalent).
Duties:
Management Reporting
- Produce weekly cash report summarising bank balances, receipts and payments
- Update and maintain cash reports for each contract
- Preparation of adhoc reports and spreadsheets as required by the Finance Director
- Assist with month and year end financial reporting requirements. Year/quarter/month end management accounts.
- Produce consolidation across different subsidiaries.
Statutory accounts
- Preparation of annual statutory accounts under GAAP/ IFRS.
- Assist with preparation of year-end audit schedules
- Experience of year end group consolidations (THIS IS ESSENTIAL)
- Dealing with external auditors on all queries raised during the audit process.
Cash Accounting
- Arrange authorisation and process miscellaneous bank transactions
- Liaise with bank to arrange transactions and resolve queries
- Monthly reconciliation of bank statements to general ledger
- Assisting with budget preparation and analysis
General Ledger Accounting
- Generate and enter journals for accounting transactions
- Reconcile General Ledger control accounts
- Accruals/prepayments and fixed asset reconciliations
Purchase and Sales Ledger
- Code purchase invoices and enter onto accounting system
- Generate bank payment runs and liaise with suppliers
- Maintain purchase ledger files and reconcile supplier statements
- Produce sales invoices and manage debtor control process
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
General
- Special projects, as needed
- Assist with general office administration
Requirements:
- Part-qualified ACCA or CIMA or equivalent. Study package provided
- Strong all round accounting experience, ideally from a similar broad role in a small company
- Excellent Excel skills
- Microsoft Dynamics GP experience preferred, not essential
- Comfortable working in a small team, with a degree of autonomy
- Strong communications skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Adaptable approach, with the ability to recommend improvements where necessary
