Our Client based in Wakefield have an immediate opportunity for an experienced qualified / Part qualified Accountant to join them for an initial 12 month contract period, to work closely with the on-site Finance Manager. The role purpose is to assist through a period of change and to ensure the timely, accurate and complete recording of fixed asset balances in the accounting system and work towards standardising and simplifying processes.

This role sits within the shared services centre and takes responsibility for:
*Accurate recording of Fixed Asset balances, completely and in a timely manner onto the fixed asset and the general ledger.
*Ensure that fixed asset balances are recorded in the general ledger in line with applicable accounting standards and Group policies.
*Provide input to the month end close process in line with the agreed schedules and ensure that the final fixed asset numbers are accurately recorded within agreed schedules.
*Liaison across the business to ensure consistent and accurate inputs to the accounting process from departments and standardisation of the process.
*Ensure the fixed asset register across the Group is in a consistent format with key information included for management reporting as required.
*Highlight any areas of fixed asset accounting and reporting balance sheet risk to shared services and operating company management at the earliest opportunity.
*Review of the fixed asset accounting and reporting to identify where processes can be standardised and simplified.
*Communicate any emerging issues that affect month end reporting
*Ensure that the monthly reconciliation process is completed to schedule for all fixed asset balances.
*Ensure the fixed assets accounting and reporting process is effectively documented and that this documentation is kept up to date with any changes as necessary.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:
*Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and correct mistakes.
*Sound accounting and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
*Ability to adhere to deadlines.
*Flexible approach to work.
*Experience of working within a similar size organisation or shared services environment is preferred but not essential.
*Ability to identify areas to improve processes and follow these through with help from management.
*Strong systems skills.
