The Business


Sellick Partnership is currently sourcing a Finance Business Partner for a Retail business based in the North West. The client that we're representing are in a period of extensive change and are looking for a commercial business partner to provide financial and analytical support to a growing department. The business is currently in the midst of driving through a number of key initiatives in order to reach several pre-defined strategic objectives. With an established team already in place it is essential that only proven interims with a track record of delivering apply for this role.



The Role

With an established project team in place the Finance Business Partner that we're currently recruiting to plays an integral part in the success of the programme. Once in role the candidate will be responsible for providing financial information and assisting the business to meet agreed strategic objectives.

Further aspects of the role include:

  • Provide financial advice to stakeholders (executives, project managers and cost centre owners) to ensure the business delivers on strategic objectives
  • Provide financial and management information to a range of stakeholders
  • Provide information relating to financial performance variances, KPIs and value drivers
  • Conduct extensive analysis of the businesses results, plans, forecasts and risk strategy
  • Conduct widespread financial modelling to support the strategic planning and budgeting exercises
  • Reviewing of business cases to ensure resources are effectively used
  • Provide cost recommendations and improve efficiencies across the business
  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly and year end accounting cycles
  • Provide financial analysis for multiple projects across the business
  • Assist on the delivery of complex business cases and ensure that levels of governance are maintained
  • Drive through change and new initiatives that link to the target operating model


The Candidate

Candidates wishing to apply for this role will be a technically strong CCAB qualified accountant with previous experience of working in a rapidly evolving environment. From a skills perspective the interim must have high level stakeholder management skills and assist non accounting managers with complex financial analysis. Further to this they will be well versed in dealing with complex business cases, conducting investment appraisals and tracking the progress of the business against budget.

The successful candidate must have strong modelling skills and be strong in Excel. Further to this the candidate will have a strong commercial and financial understanding and be available to start a new role at short notice. Strong communication, organisational, planning and negotiating skills are essential.

The candidate will also have strong planning, negotiating and presentation skills and will be able to establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all level. The ability to work to tight deadlines is key and knowledge of risk management processes is also essential.
