Financial Controller

Robert Half are excited to be working on a Financial Controller opportunity for an experienced accounts professional to oversee all the day to day accounting duties of a fast growing and entrepreneurial business based in Bristol. The business have ambitious and rapid growth plans therefore this is a fantastic opportunity for someone to join at the beginning and grow with the business. This could be your first Financial Controller position having moved up through an accounts department. The role will be very hands on initially but will quickly allow someone to build a finance team within the office which they will be able to manage moving forward.

Key responsibilities:

Production of monthly management reporting pack (Profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cash flows) including variance analysis and commentaries

Assist in the production of the annual budget and periodic forecasting

Production of annual Statutory Accounts

Preparation of Corporation Tax, PAYE and VAT returns

Payroll administration

Ongoing review of cash flow and production of forecasts

Purchase ledger processing and weekly payment of invoices

Sales ledger processing and credit control

Researching and resolving any invoice discrepancies and issues

Reconciliations of bank accounts and credit cards

Posting ledger journals including prepayments and accruals

Tracking expenses and processing expense reports

Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where needed

Implementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls

  • Ensuring compliance with all financial regulations

Skills / experience required

  • Qualified accountant
  • Hardworking and diligent
  • Experience working in a finance role for an SME business or practice
  • Experience with year-end
  • Experience with transactional finance
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task.
  • Meticulous attention to detail. Must be thorough and accurate.
