My client is a designer furniture manufacturer and retailer based in central London. Part of a wider group operating with a $1bn T/O the UK business is a £30m T/O outfit within a strong European business. Their products are both office and domestic pieces with a focus on modern design and appeal. As a result of recent movement in the team, they are now looking for an experienced Financial Controller to manage a small team and support the wider UK business. This role will report into the European FC with a dotted line to the European VP as well.

Detailed Job Description

As the Financial Controller you will be tasked with managing the day-to-day of the finance function, developing two members of staff, and working to improve the sales reporting. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Oversight of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting cycles;
  • Leading on the management accounts preparation in Excel/Hyperion with effective and accurate insight into performance;
  • Lead the annual budget preparation through liaising with non-financial stakeholders;
  • Take ownership for, and improve, the monthly forecasting process by developing a strong relationship with the sales function;
  • Manage payroll, credit control, and all transactional finance through effective delegation;
  • Lead on VAT returns and take into consideration international/European complexities;
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.

 

You will also need to be mindful that they anticipate needing to become fully SOX compliant in the future.

Candidate's Profile

As a strong applicant for this Financial Controller role you will:

Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA);

  • Possess a strong track record as a Finance Manager or Financial Controller;
  • Show clear evidence of managing the day-to-day of a finance function, including people management;
  • Have previously worked in a product based environment (i.e. retail or consumer goods business);
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the business;
  • Be able to demonstrate success in working with a sales function to improve forecasting and performance reporting.
