The Opportunity
Our client was founded in 2012, a VC-funded digital technology business. They are the market leader in providing data and analytics to the education sector. This entrepreneurial and innovative group of people are transforming behaviours in education with data science. Their SaaS technology enables schools and universities around the world to maximise pupil performance and development.
The Board have just completed a second round of funding and intend to double in revenue and people in the next three year period.
The CEO and Founder is looking to recruit a Head of Finance to join the Leadership team in the number one finance role.
The Candidate
Candidates will be exceptionally well rounded Financial Controllers/Managers who enjoy the 'hands on’ elements of financial management, coupled with a high level of intellect and a genuine interest in the digital technology sector.
You will lead finance, bringing the function in house establishing its role in a high growth evolving business. Candidates will:
- Demonstrate both hands on and strategic level experience within a start-up or high growth SME
- A track record of managing and leading small finance teams
- Ideally have experience of NetSuite accounting software
- Have analytical skills and experience of managing and manipulation of data
- Have exposure to both a SaaS and VC or PE backed business
- Have a passion for digital technology
- A logical and lateral thinker
- An interest in the education sector
- Be able to communicate complex financial information to all levels
The Head of Finance Role
The role will involve strategic and day-to-day management of the finance function, supporting the continued growth of the business and leading the development of plans and processes.
You will work closely with the senior management team to manage the reporting, forecasting & analysis whilst assisting them with the formulation of strategic and long-term business plans.
- Producing accurate financial reports (including management accounts, flash sales, cash forecast, etc.) and analysis and reporting on factors influencing business performance
- Owning the consolidated forecast of the company, and ensuring a robust framework to integrating key metrics into the forecast
- Analysing and conducting reviews on new opportunities and providing recommendations from a commercial perspective
- Managing the year end statutory annual financial accounts process
- Developing internal and external relationships e.g. bankers, investors, auditors
- Key areas; Finance Systems, development of M.I, processes and people
