You will be the Financial Controller initially managing a team of 3, expanding to 8 over time. Able to deliver commercial and technical experience.

The role covers -
Working closely with the Oxford Finance Executive Team, Senior Management Team, Finance Controller is a key member of the College's administrative team. The role involves controlling the College's finance and accountancy functions (College, Student, Head Office and Pay Roll) by developing working practices and procedures to ensure that the College complies with its responsibilities in legal compliance. The role includes preparation of annual budget; monthly management accounts with variance analysis, providing financial advice and support to the Finance Team, SMT and Head Office; developing the working practices and financial policies of the company

Staffing
1. To manage, direct and supervise the Finance Manager and Finance staff ensuring that their workload is managed effectively and their individual roles are carried out as required
2. To ensure appropriate cover across the finance department at all times and provide training and promote best practice
3. To oversee the payroll and associated functions
4. To work closely with the Finance Executive Team and assist the business in meeting its financial objectives
Head Office support
1. To plan and manage the year end audit including preparation of statutory financial statements;
2. Liaise with the auditors and oversee the external audit team for the duration of the annual audit;
3. Prepare the draft budgets and provide comprehensive analysis and commentary on budget vs actuals;
4. Monitor the internal financial control functions of the finance department and introduce further controls as appropriate and as recommended by the auditors to safeguard the college's funds and maintain accurate financial records.
Student finances
1. To improve the credit control function; by monitoring and reviewing debt collection procedures;
2. To review and oversee the processing of the return of students' deposits;
College finances
1. To take full responsibility for the day to day running of the finance function, management and development of the finance team
2. To take ownership in the preparation of annual budgets in consultation with the Finance Executive Team and Head Office
3. To review the control accounts and prepare monthly management accounts in local and group format
4. To review and authorise payment runs and payroll
5. To review and manage the cash flow of the business
6. To regularly review the operating expenses of the business and lead any tendering process under the supervision of Finance Executive Team
7. To assist with legal and regulatory compliance matters
Quality Assurance and Improvement
1. To review and improve the Finance function within the college
2. To pro-actively report to Finance Executive Team with commentary on management accounts
3. To attend relevant professional development courses and external meetings as representative of the College
4. To lead successful annual audits
