An opportunity has arisen with a global logistics distribution and supply chain organisation who delivers marine fuels and industrial fuels to customers throughout the UK. They provide aviation, marine and land energy, logistics, and technology solutions to customers and suppliers around the world.
They have a requirement for a management accountant in their Liverpool for 12 months. You will be reporting to the Finance Director and you will be responsible for maintaining a successful accounting function within a small team.
Working as a management accountant in Merseyside within the marine and land segement you will have certain responsbilities and be accountable for the following:
- Prepare month end schedules to accurately record inventory movements and to produce the Weighted Average Cost of Goods calculation.
- Reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts including, but not limited to, Prepayments, Inventory, Capital Work in Progress.
- The creation, development and maintenance of accounting spreadsheets used within the Finance function.
- Covering transactional and daily processing tasks as and when required
- Revenue and gross margin analysis to ensure the completeness and accuracy of reported revenue and margins
- Budget vs actual variance analysis on key general ledger operational expenditure accounts
- Performance of ad hoc financial analysis as required
- Ad hoc financial projects work including development of control processes, procedures and reporting as required
- Handle enquiries from key stakeholders, including Treasury, Tax, internal and external audit, Middle Office (hedge accounting), and the Corporate accounting team.
To be successful as a management accountant in this position you must have experience with the above and the following which is not exhaustive:
- Fully qualified (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) or qualified by experience,
- At least three years' experience with an accountancy background,
- Using a large ERP system ideally Oracle but this not essential,
- Experience and responsibility for managing general ledger controlled accounts,
- Experience of balance sheet reconciliations and national statistics returns,
- Intermediate skills on Excel.
