We are seeking to hire a qualified Senior Financial Analyst to join our UK Retail team on a permanent basis.
Acting as a key finance partner to the sales, marketing and operations teams, the Senior Finance Analyst will be responsible for financial planning, business analysis, reporting & modelling for the UK Retail Business covering Home Entertainment (DVD, Blu-Ray). They will manage the Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment P&L and key marketing budgets as well as being involved in long term planning and quarterly forecasting.
The Department
The retail business at Disney is a dynamic and fast-paced environment that works directly with our retail partners across the country, from high street superstores to online retailers. The team covers sales, logistics, merchandising and marketing across a range of exciting family-focused products from the Walt Disney portfolio, from DVDs to toys, food and apparel.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
Planning & Forecast Cycle
- Complete and assist in the management of accurate & timely quarterly forecast models covering a wide range of P&L areas including revenue, COGs , distribution & marketing for WDSHE UK
- Input all quarterly forecasts into the Cognos financial reporting systems. Perform variance analysis & assist in preparing reporting templates to submit to the Regional team.
- Responsibility for building the Annual Operating Plans for all relevant New Release titles
New Release P&L’s
- Work with the commercial & marketing teams to build 52 week new release P&L’s for all New Release titles. Drive the completion and challenge the decision making to ensure corporate objectives are achieved
- Track performance of titles post release, providing appropriate updates to the finance team and key business partners by communicating impact versus forecast
Retail Account Commercial Support
- Review & communicate performance of the businesses by retail account on a bi-weekly basis. Highlight opportunities and risk which could impact overall performance
- Be a commercial partner to the UK Commercial Managers and Head of Category, & support them in managing the business & effective decision making
- Provide commercial support to the account managers to help evaluate deals & opportunities, provide insights & analysis to influence decision making & help drive efficiencies in their ways of working
Quarter End Close
- Assist in completion of quarter end deliverables to WDI shared services. Accurately review financials to ensure variances to forecast are understood & validated
- Prepare returns & obsolescence reserve models at quarter end & prepare commentary for the Controllership to explain assumptions & address challenges from their side
- Responsible for managing & tracking all marketing budgets. This will involve partnering with all key budget holders & tracking spend throughout the quarter, as well as managing the quarter end PO process to ensure that all costs are recognized correctly.
Intern Mentor
- Responsible for the day to day management & mentoring of our intern.
About You
Suitable candidates will ideally possess the following skills and experience:
- Degree (or equivalent) with excellent academic record
- ACA / CIMA qualified or equivalent qualification
- Experience in financial planning / decision support role within a related industry (media / entertainment / retail company)
- Proven working experience of analysis and producing high level summaries
- SAP, Cognos experience preferred
