About the Role

Working closely with the Global Head of Tax and the rest of the Group Finance team, this role plays a key role in all tax affairs across all global entities. In addition, there is also the opportunity to manage a number of important projects across the group including the move to our new global headquarters on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and the move into additional territories for tax purposes.

About Finance Team at Abcam

The Finance team at Abcam consists of two main areas - FP&A and TRACT teams. This role sits within the TRACT team which is made up of a talented group of finance professionals with expertise across Group Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Tax, Controls, Management & Financial Accounts. The majority of the team are based at the Global Headquarters in Cambridge UK with a few colleagues based regionally across the US and APAC.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the EMEA corporate tax returns and relevant claims and elections, ensuring timely submission within statutory deadlines.
  • Prepare the global tax consolidation under IFRS at interim and year end by managing, consolidating and, for certain entities, reviewing the local inputs/requirements.
  • Prepare the annual UK tax documentation ensuring it is up-to-date with the changing legislation e.g. R&D claim, CFC analysis, interest analysis.
  • Calculate and manage the global quarterly transfer pricing adjustments.
  • Prepare annual transfer pricing reports for review by the Global Head of Tax using the Thomson Reuters software.
  • Ad-hoc opportunities to support project work e.g. acquisitions, disposals, VAT, Customs, payroll taxes, tax legislation changes, debt capacity etc.

About you
You will be a Qualified Accountant with experience gained in the Tax department of a “Big 4” firm with strong experience in large company Corporation Tax. You should also possess strong analytical and problem solving skills with a proactive, resourceful and agile approach to your work.

The role would be ideally suited to a Senior Associate/Manager in Tax looking to make their first move into industry or alternatively, someone who has already moved into industry and now is interested in joining a large, growing organisation with opportunities to grow and develop.
