Your new Capital Accountant role
The Capital Accountant will report to the Chief Accountant and be responsible for leading on capital accounting including budget strategy, monitoring and closure. You will deal with the provision of financial advice and capital accounting support to Service Departments, statistics and returns. You will provide financial information and expertise on corporate finance issues such as accounting statement production, IFRS and leasing. Other main duties will include maximisation of capital grants, as well as leading and supporting corporate projects and policies
What you'll need to succeed
You will be CCAB/CIMA Qualified from either the private or public sector but local government finance experience would be desirable. Good working knowledge of key technical accounting services is needed and knowledge of corporate finance duties. You will need evidence of being able to make rational and timely decisions whilst empowering budget managers and show good financial judgement in this support. You will be highly communicative and able to liaise with both finance and non- finance including professional bodies. In person you will have energy and tenacity including the ability to work under pressure and possess sound IT skills.
