Alzheimer’s Society
Director of Finance, Planning and Performance

National role – flexible location with regular travel to London
Circa £90,000 per annum

Dementia is one of the biggest health challenges of our time. By 2021, more than a million people in the UK will have dementia. It costs the UK £26 billion a year and is one of the top five causes of death, costing even more than cancer, heart disease and stroke combined. Research shows that dementia is the most feared health condition by people over 50.

As the UK's leading dementia support and research charity, here for anyone affected by dementia, we have a critical role to play - our ultimate vision is a world without dementia and for over three decades, we have given hope and support to people across England, Wales and Northern Ireland whose lives are affected. Last year, we spent over £86 million on research into the prevention and treatment of dementia, on providing services ourselves and through others, and changing the way people with dementia and their carers are seen and supported by society as a whole. We are leading a social movement in public understanding of dementia. But there is still much to do and now is the time to do it.

We’re now seeking a Director of Finance, Planning and Performance to provide effective financial leadership and reporting for the Alzheimer’s Society. Working closely with our Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team and Board of Trustees, you will ensure the effective financial planning and performance management and actively contribute towards the strategic growth of our organisation.

This role will be critical in shaping the organisation and helping us realise the ambitions of our new strategy 2017-2022, ‘New Deal on Dementia’. An experienced and qualified senior professional with strategic level expertise, you will be a collaborative leader who will work across your functions and beyond to leverage the overall performance of the organisation.

You will be a rigorous, clear thinker who will help move the organisation through a significant and period of transformational change to ensure we achieve even more in tackling one of the toughest health issues of our time. Whatever your sector background, you will have operated at scale within a customer driven environment and will understand that our customers are at the heart of everything we do.

The closing date for applications is Monday 14th August 2017.
