Assistant Financial Accountant
£28,000 - £30,000

Seymour John are currently working alongside a market leading organisation based in central Birmingham to recruit an assistant financial accountant on a permanent basis. This role has arisen due to a recent acquisition, that has resulted in additional support being required to assist the finance department during this busy time for the business. This opportunity will also provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to learn and develop their own career working for a UK wide brand.
Reporting directly into the financial accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring that the financial controls are in place, whilst also ensuring that the monthly numbers are produced accurately and are in line with the reporting deadlines. An integral part of this role will be the successful management and development of two direct reports within the team. You will be responsible for ensuring that all revenue stream cash is processed in a timely manner, whilst also monitoring the daily reconciliations are both completed and approved on time. You will also be required to take the lead on in house project work, whilst at the same time liaising with other departments including management accounts, accounts payable and accounts receivable to deliver on these projects.
The successful applicant must be able to confidently liaise with both internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis. You will be asked to assist operational staff with queries, in addition to working closely with the HR department to ensure continuous staff development and engagement are at the required level. Excellent management skills are a necessity for this position, so the ability to demonstrate a history of successful staff development and training is a key requirement.
To be considered for this position, you must be studying towards becoming fully qualified in either ACCA or CIMA. Strong excel skills are required (V-look ups and pivot tables) You must also be a proactive individual who can identify and implement improvements in the financial accounting process.
