Butler Rose are currently supporting a client located just outside Oxford with their search for a Part Time Accounts Assistant.

This is fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a position around school hours or if you are studding, this position will offer you (up to) 4 days in a finance environment and one day off to study. Hours are flexible and the minimum hours required is 20.

Ideally you will have some experience within accounts and it would be an advantage if you have qualified or studding AAT.

If you are passionate about finance and looking for an opportunity to train and excel, this role will offer you diversity and hands on experience.

  • Preparing the information received in a format ready to be processed, checking for missing information up to trial balance - training will be provided if necessary
  • Attaching receipts to relevant bank statements
  • Entering Sales and Purchase Invoices on to Sage 50 Accounts - training will be provided if necessary
  • Preparing a Petty Cash spreadsheet and entering the figures on to the accounts
  • Entering the cheque payments on to sage, allocating to invoices where applicable
  • Reconciling the bank - training will be provided if necessary
  • Printing relevant reports (i.e. Profit and Loss Account, Trial Balance, VAT Return, Nominal Ledger)
  • Preparing VAT returns, to include reconciling the bank

Payroll - This will involve running the monthly payroll, checking over figures, printing reports, reporting in real time etc.

Automatic Enrolment

Completing CIS returns on behalf of the client, ensuring it is correct and filed on time

Admin

  • Filing information in relevant files following the format before
  • Daily diary management
  • Checking and responding to emails on a regular basis
  • Answering the phone in a polite manner, screening any calls which come through
  • Writing letters to HMRC and clients in the correct format
  • Monthly stationary order and keeping a record of stock in the office stationary cupboard
  • Preparing end of month client lists. Keeping the database up to date, ensuring the client lists reconcile and pointing out any differences
  • New client Credit Checks
  • Creating client packs for new and existing clients
  • Preparing holiday entitlement spreadsheets for payroll clients
  • Franking and labelling the post daily
  • Shredding confidential information
  • Involvement of annual updating of Taxwise Insurance for clients

Skills Required

  • Able to conduct themselves in a professional manner
  • Polite
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Organised
  • Good telephone manner
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access)
  • Knowledge of Sage Accounting software desirable
  • Computer literate
  • Social Media Awareness
  • Able to work in a team, as well as using own initiative
  • Willing to learn and develop
  • Able to absorb information readily and quickly
  • Adhering to client confidentiality, this is essential
  • Accuracy
  • A background in Accounting, Finance or Business is desirable
  • Interest in this field/industry
  • Possibly working towards an accounting related degree or AAT, ACA, CIMA, or ACCA accreditation
  • Driving licence desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of App usage & application would be desirable
  • As the role evolves you would be shown further skills if showing enough interest and the desire to learn
