Systems Accountant

Our client is a local business which is part of a global company and they are currently recruiting for a newly created position specialising in SOX compliance and control implementation.

Following the acquisition of the business by a US parent, there is now a need to ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance within the two UK based operations and thereafter continue to manage and oversee necessary controls, policies and procedures to ensure this compliance.

With the end goal of implementing and maintaining a sustainable control environment the role will include;

• Adequate segregation of duties in systems and processes
• Accessing rights to systems and master file data
• Implementing all appropriate control, documentation and approval procedures
• Managing and monitoring disbursement controls, account reconciliations and closing procedures
• Revenue recognition - checks and control
• Reviewing key provisions and accruals in accordance with policy
• Recording and documenting all processes, identifying risk and control including referencing key accounting policies
• Gap assessment and resolution
• Managing internal audit
• Assisting with reporting and production of accounts
• STAT to GAAP differences, reconciled to US GAAP
• Review & analysis of accounting reconciliations & submissions.
• Corporate compliance
• Completion of Quarterly Management Representation Letters
• Corporation Tax requirements - management/liaison with corporate head office
• Statutory filings in accordance with UTC requirements
• Assisting with co-ordination with external auditors, regarding data preparation & information, accounting controls & procedures

This role requires a technically adept candidate who is post qualified ACCA or ACA (or equivalent) and has experience of US GAAP, SOX compliance and enjoys working on processes and controls.  This could be your first move in to industry from a large firm, and a candidate with a background in internal audit may also be suited to this role.

A strong communicator is essential as you will be rolling out the process improvements within the business and you will also be well-versed in working to challenging deadlines.

A good working knowledge of Word and Excel is very important and if you have experience of Dynamics AX, that would be a distinct advantage.

This role will be based in Huntingdon but there will be travel between offices so a full UK driving license is required.
