Our client is an ever growing PLC business head quartered in Reading. Our client is a retail distribution business and have a requirement for a Group Financial Reporting Accountant. This role will suit a big 4 newly qualified accountant seeking that first step from practice. The reporting team is very much the training ground where individuals will stay for 18/24 months before progressing into another area of finance.

Responsibility for the review and validation of reporting packs submitted by subsidiary entities and group cash flow accuracy

Preparation of supporting working papers for the consolidation such as the Group reserves reconciliation

Foreign exchange proof and reconciliation

Intercompany elimination proofs

Supporting calculations for the consolidation adjustments and posting journals

Work closely with the Group Treasury, Group Tax and Group Performance Management teams to validate monthly reporting

Identify and propose improvements and efficiencies in existing processes.
Preparation of a number of key notes to the half-year and full-year group financial statements and liaising with the external auditors in those areas.

Documenting justification for the accounting treatment of judgemental areas for internal files and external auditors.

Work with the relevant Group and OpCo finance teams to resolve IFRS accounting issues and judgements. Assist with the implementation of new IFRS applicable to the Group.

Involvement in ad hoc financial reporting and financial systems projects, such as implementing improvements in reporting and consolidation processes and the HFM system.

Maintain and update the Group's chart of accounts.

Prepare the quarterly National Statistics' schedules for the group.

A basic of £45,000-£50,000 plus 20% bonus, plus 13% pension and health cover.
