We are recruiting for an exciting new position to lead a shared internal audit service for two councils. You will lead a proactive audit service, ensuring that the transformation and commercialisation programmes of the two councils are based on sound business principles focussing on risk and performance management.
You will develop and lead the internal audit service, managing an experienced team with high levels of existing buy-in, working collaboratively across the two councils to ensure that your team is providing the right services to a diverse range of stakeholders, helping to improve project delivery and service quality.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership for the service, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources and developing team members to their full potential.
They will deliver cross-cutting audit strategies to streamline audit processes and deliver best practice, ensuring that there is a culture of continuous learning and improvement throughout the councils.
As a member of the management team you will also contribute to the development of a shared finance service, supporting structural and process change driven by a new, shared financial management system.
The person We need someone who has management experience in an internal audit team or function, with either a CCAB or IIA qualification.
You will also have highly developed investigative and analytical skills as well as substantial hands on knowledge of audit processes in a large multi-functional organisation.
Critically, you will have the ability to develop strong working relationships around different internal and external stakeholders and negotiate with others to achieve improvements in service.
