Our client is a private equity backed fitted bedroom and home office retailer and manufacturer. They now require a Financial Controller based in Camberley, Surrey reporting to and supporting the Finance Director.
Primary responsibilities
Internal Reporting
- Production of Management Accounts, Balance Sheet and additional reporting for Board Packs and external stakeholders.
- Produce/oversee the production of all supporting reconciliations, schedules and associated journals. Ensure, drive adherence to and improve month end timetable
- Responsibility for daily, weekly and rolling quarterly cash management and reporting
- Assist in preparation of finance papers for Board meetings and external shareholders
- Prepare detailed cost reporting for Showrooms & Administration
- Drive quality and consistency of reporting
External Reporting
- Responsible for Annual statutory accounts for the businesses and main point of contact with external auditors.
- Liaison and assistance with auditors and tax advisors
- FCA compliance reporting
- VAT Returns
- Prepare, in conjunction with external tax advisors, annual corporation tax returns.
Budget
- Preparation of detailed Annual budgets and periodic forecasts for Showrooms and Administration divisions.
- Balance Sheet budgeting and forecasting.
Systems and controls
- Review and ensure adherence to finance systems and controls across the Group
- Develop and improve finance systems and controls
- Control & Maintenance of Capital Expenditure and Fixed Assets Register
- Control of payroll function handling over 1200 employees and contractors.
Treasury
- Support with day to day banking processes and relationships
- Support with covenant compliance testing and reporting
- Management and control of Purchase Ledger and Cashiering functions
Candidate Profile and range of experience
- Previous experience in a Financial Accountant/Controller role
- Experience in supporting the development of finance departments in a growing business
- Member of a professional accounting body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Strong UK GAAP knowledge
- Ideally, working knowledge of Sage Line 1000
- Very good commercial and business awareness coupled with strong analytical skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail, a logical and reasoned approach to problem solving with a can-do attitude being un-phased under pressure
