Management Accountant - Chichester - Permanent - £35,000 - £45,000
The Role & Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide financial support, management and challenge within the business, enabling the Profit Centre Managers to deliver their monthly Profit Centre information and reporting in a timely and safe manner, as well as aiding effective and efficient management of, and decision making within their respective operational units.

Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the role are:
SAP/Desktop Housekeeping
- Ensuring project income and cost to complete forecasts are updated and maintained, in liaison with Project Managers and /or Profit Centre Managers
- Ensuring regular and timely general house-keeping of project data, e.g. timely closure of completed projects
- Regular review and updating of SAP cost rates/charge-out rates, in liaison with Profit Centre Managers
- Processing of journal entries
- Ensuring consistency of project structures and ability to provide advice to managers
Invoice Processing (Accounts receivable and payable)
- Review of Work in Progress, ensuring accurate and timely issue of sales invoices
- Ensure all Project re-imbursable/expenses are recovered from Client, as appropriate
- Checking of and dealing with queries relating to Suppliers invoices
Profit Centre Financial Management and MOB Reporting
- Carry out regular and timely analysis of staff efficiency and utilisation and liaise with PM's/PCM's regarding outputs/results
- Run missing timesheet reports and ensure gaps are closed
- Production of mid month position reports, including analysis & interpretation of the results
- Completion of monthly actual and forecast variance analysis, including Project profitability analysis
- Carry out Mini-mob/Profit Centre reviews, challenge and update of monthly forecasts within the forecasting system (Axiom), ensuring adequate supporting detail and backup is provided and recorded
- Review and challenge of Sales Pipeline Tracker opportunities and forecasts with PCM's, as part of monthly Profit Centre review process
- Preparation and review of cost accruals in support of the month end reporting process
- Review of monthly WIP calculations - including regular challenge and calculation of static WIP
- Ensuring accurate and timely production of monthly financial and KPI reports
- Provide input into monthly Project Health Checks and Reviews
- Support Finance Manager and Profit Centre managers with the production of stretching but achievable annual Business Plan forecasts
- Provide support in validation of and information for production of fee proposals/tenders
- Working Capital Management
- Assistance with Debt Collection and resolution of queries as required
- Review and monitoring of WIP days and WIP values at project level, with a view to minimise WIP days and Working Capital levels
Managed Budgets
- Budget monitoring of Council Budgets
- Testing, challenging & investigation of actual costs & income
- Attendance at and co-ordination of Budget MOB Meetings encompassing production of outturn forecasts in liaison with Profit Centre Managers, gathering reasons for variances and to ensure early warnings of any under/over spend are flagged
Other Responsibilities
- Production of weekly/monthly Management Information and reports
- Provide financial support, guidance and training to Profit Centre Managers/Project Managers
- Support the Finance Manager in implementing Capita standard systems, processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with Capita Policies and rules
- Ad hoc reports and financial support
Key Skills/Experience
Essential
- Newly qualified or working towards a Professional Accountancy qualification such as CIMA/ACCA etc.
- Microsoft Office experience including excellent Excel skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong Management Accounting experience, including dealing with Work in Progress Desirable
- Project Accounting experience
- Experience of working in both private and public sectors
- Experience of Stock Management including monthly reconciliations
