Sellick Partnership has been assigned to recruit a permanent Commercial Finance Manager for a very successful and instantly recognisable retail business based in Manchester. The business has outperformed their competitors over the past few years and will continue to do so by driving their strategic plan, delivering further improvements and changes that will make a real impact on the whole business.

As a commercial finance manager you'll be responsible for monitoring a specific business unit spend against a £80m budget. Working collaboratively with the business, you will pull together a holistic story of financial information and analysis to help improve scenario, forecasting and budgeting models, as well as applying new techniques to support process. You'll be working closely with two assistant analysts, so you'll be using your knowledge and expertise to develop and shape them, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Manage budget and forecasting for commercial strategy
  • Look at how much and where money is being spent across marketing, challenge teams to make sure they're spending correctly against budgets and strategies
  • Lead and develop two assistant analysts and help enhance their careers
  • Help the business understand the impact of decisions and spend on sales and commercial impact
  • Liaise with teams within finance to get more specific financial information around sales figures, BI and spend
  • Work closely with analysts; looking at working with third parties, what's our return on investment
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement

The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA or CIMA) with great analytical & data manipulation skills as you will be working with a large number of complex data sets. You will be a strong communicator, business partnering, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills and in particular the ability to communicate with C-Suite level individuals. Focussed on delivering specific objectives, you will be proactive, dynamic and self-motivated with a desire to find and deliver improvements. In addition you will have the ability to work independently and together with other personnel both finance and non-finance.
