My client is a £16m turnover well-established provider of security printing and data services to governments and authorities in the UK and worldwide. The group comprises two operating companies.They are now looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller who wil report to the part time FD.
Role Summary:
The main focus of the role is to shape and drive forward financial reporting and control across both group business In order to assist the business to greater efficiency and improved profitability, and to contribute towards the financial planning and strategic growth of the organisation.
The finance department currently consists of a senior management accountant, a cost and management accountant and a purchase ledger clerk.
Principle objectives:
Business/Strategy
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the underlying business and its key drivers.
- Agree with Senior Management Team the key actions required to deliver the finance strategy, and communicate the implementation plan.
- Ensure that control & governance are implemented and adhered to.
People
- Overall supervision of the finance department.
- Coach and mentor the Finance team to develop the capability within the department.
Management information
- Develop and manage a continuous forecasting environment.
- Develop and manage performance reporting formats which help decision making.
- Ensure that the monthly reporting timetable is met.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Management of the Group's cash, FX and related transactions.
- Preparing company and group cash forecasts as part of the regular process.
- Responsible for overseas debt recovery.
Banking
- Management of the relationship in conjunction with Group where appropriate.
- Presentation of data to the Bank, e.g. Accounts and Cashflow.
- Working with Group with regard to funding requirements/facilities.
- Signatory on all accounts.
- Supporting Group as required in matters relating to their banking arrangements.
Pensions
- Interface between the Company/Trustees/Professional Advisers for the SAH Scheme
Insurance - broker and insurer relationship management.
- Renewals and ensuring adequacy of cover.
Audit and professional
- Management of audit partners including their preparation of draft YE statutory accounts.
- Working with professional advisors (same as audit partner) to ensure that external fees are kept to a minimum.
Person specification
The ideal candidate has successfully led a Finance team to high internal and external client satisfaction and meets most or all of the following requirements:
Experience:
- Senior operational finance experience within SME manufacturing businesses.
- Proven experience working with internal senior team members and clients.
- Strong leadership experience managing a team; hands-on management & coaching
- Knowledge of Pegasus Opera would be useful.
- Highly commercially and strategically minded.
- Ability to analyse business needs and conceive, design and develop innovative solutions.
- Proven ability to add value via analysis and reporting.
- Extensive experience of Excel reporting and modelling
