Manufacturing Performance Accountant
Reporting to General Manager
£40-£45K + NEST Pension + 20 days holiday + stats
Location – Redditch
Seymour John are working exclusively to recruit a Manufacturing Performance Accountant for a growing subsidiary of an international global group of companies. The Manufacturing Performance Accountant will play a key role working closely with the operations and production staff to maximise performance and deliver accurate, critical business information to support decision making.
The business runs up to 80 lines at any time, with complex and intricate processes requiring specialist labour techniques. The business has a reputation and is continuously developing and introducing new products.
We are looking for an accountant who has a strong understanding and background in complex manufacturing or food production businesses, costing, pricing, stock, labour costs and overheads. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, working closely with all employees, and key stakeholders including the General Manager and Production Manager. The position also supervises three members of staff responsible for the day-to-day transactional finance functions.
Responsibilities Include
- Product costings using a simple costing model which allows quick turnaround of product costs for pricing calculations for sales and development teams.
- Establish standard cost accounting for products and period reporting using existing stock management system with heavy reliance on excel spreadsheets.
- Maintenance of product master data in the financial models / system
- Work closely with the production team to understand multiple production processes in able to cost direct labour accurately.
- Stock Reconciliations including resolving stock queries with the operations team
- Sales reports by category and end customer, actual vs budget vs ly.
- Budget & Forecasting support
- Price Maintenance
Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant, preferably CIMA, or part-qualified / QBE
- Previous costing and analysis skills in an FMCG or complex manufacturing environment
- Actively seeks to partner with operational functions of the business outside of finance
- Initiative to recommend process improvements and efficiencies
- Strong Excel skills to include VLOOKUPs and Pivot tables
- Strong communicator working with senior stakeholders
- Versatile and meticulous approach to tasks and deadlines
