The purpose of the position is to act as a Finance Business Partner for business critical projects   within EMEA. The role will ensure suitable financial control is employed  and high quality management information is provided to meet the needs of the key stakeholders,    The role is accountable for providing the single source of truth with respect to the financial positions across the project portfolio.

 

The role will act as a subject matter expect with respect to all aspects of project financial control, from providing insights into   business cases, through to the financial reconciliation processes and cost object maintenance processes during the project close phase.

 

The role will successfully collaborate with all teams / customers of project finance information, building a successful network and improving operational processes.

 

Accountable for the management of the budget for all EMEA Projects ensuring the Budget is adequately established and appropriately released

As required, this role may be required to conduct audit type reviews of financials positions being reported by projects, to ensure the information being presented to senior leaders is complete and accurate.

 

Business Partnering Activities:

  • Act as subject matter expect, with respect to financial management and reporting, across portfolio of projects
  • Project Finances, across the portfolio, are compliant with internal policies (e.g. delegation of Authority) and controls.
  • Provide expert support, as required by the Project, in preparation of expected costs to include in Business Case/Project Initiation Document/ Project Change Requests
  • Ensuring recharge arrangement are agreed and operationalised.
  • Secure project budget, including preparation and submission of additional budget requests, and ensure obtainment of approvals in alignment with Delegation of Authority policy
  • Support in the provision of CAPEX/OPEX guidance
  • Ensuring the phasing of projects budgets across Financial years is appropriately reflected in Forecast, Budget, Finance Plan and Mid-term Plan and relevant financial systems
  • Understand the reporting requirements of Project Manager / Leadership and create (with assistance of other Finance teams) the necessary mechanisms to facilitate cost reporting and variance analysis, including creating a framework for Global reporting requirements as and when required
  • Ensure at quarter-end and year-end close, costs with respect the portfolio of projects are appropriately accounted for
  • Update the Finance Plan with latest Project forecast and ensure sufficient budgets are in place for following FYs over the duration of projects
  • Provide FP&I with consolidated Project forecast in line with Budget/Forecast/MTP timelines.

  • Quality Assurance reviews of project finances, as required, to ensure appropriate financial control mechanisms are operating within the project, and the financial information reported has integrity
  • Influence the business to ensure there are clearer lines of responsibility between Finance and Business so that Business takes on more ownership and accountability of Project Spend.
  • Take ownership of resolving and problem solving any issues/concerns highlighted by the Business related to Projects.
