Working in partnership with one of Yorkshire's most reputable employers who continue to shape and lead their industry, this is a fantastic opportunity to join an accounting team of excellence in the role of Assistant Financial Controller. It is envisaged that this role will be fast tracked into the Financial Controller role within 12 months with future scope to move into Commercial Finance arena and will take the shape of becoming a senior career path designed to accelerate high flyers in becoming the future management team of the business.
Leading a small team this role will take the main lead in all internal and external financial reporting, produce monthly flash and group performance reports whilst managing the consolidating process for all trading subsidiaries. Being at the forefront of change this role will also analyse the impact of new or revised accounting announcements for the Group working in partnership with the board and senior management teams. It will get involved in significant project work and get a great deal of group wide exposure opening up communication channels with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Essentially this role is targeting a high performing ACA/ACCA with post qualified exposure from likely a top ten firm of accountants who has a strong technical grounding. Demonstrated by the past 3 people who have previously undertaken a Group role as an introduction and quickly advance to deputy and head roles in commercial finance, this role has a reputation for being the best route into industry. It will enable a quick understanding of a hugely interesting and complex business combined with some high level exposure. It would suit someone keen to be fast tracked into a commercial finance role but who does not mind learning the fundamentals through a tradition route into industry. It would be a significant advantage to have a good grasp of both IFRS and UKGAAP and strong knowledge of corporate reporting although with the mid to longer term view of this role, not essential. Capable of communicating affectively both verbally and through delivering reports on accounting areas in a clear and concise manner for a variety of audiences is a key foundation to this role.
