Financial Systems Development Lead

£300-400 per day

Shropshire

Working exclusively in partnership with Shropshire John, my client has an exciting journey both behind, and ahead of them.  Successful in driving rapid growth in sales with some great products (over 35% up year on year), tremendous loyalty from existing customers, expansion in international operations and an appetite to make substantial acquisitions imminently.

Hopefully that sounds good so far.  However, they really do need the right systems to underpin this transformation, and the current product is increasingly less fit for purpose.  Please read on if you are interested.

The Role

Processes are currently very manual.  They’d like better systems and processes as this underpins all the activities in the business.  They’d be more efficient and effective, have better information faster, answer questions quicker, be able to run their business better.  Your time with this organisation might look like this:

A)

  • Review existing processes and identify wins.
  • Present your findings on the benefits achievable to the Executive.
  • Document a final solution suitable for the business detailing expected costs and benefits.  This should be high quality report that can be presented to software vendors to inform a tender response, and to the Executive

B)

  • Project Manage the tender process and select an appropriate partner, through to
  • Leading the implementation from the Company perspective to a final result, being hands on in terms of business analyst tasks to ensure the right specification is implemented to minimise external consultancy cost.
  • Develop and educate users in the business to operate the system unlocking its maximum reasonable potential and efficiency savings.
  • Ensure the system:
    • Links to the CRM system and interfaces smoothly with other systems
    • Is flexible to copes with the international development of the business

C)

There is ongoing potential to support the business long term delivering other projects such as:

  • Rolling out of business systems and processes to new overseas subsidiaries or acquisitions, staff training, etc
  • Review controls/governance framework, e.g. would this pass a SOX audit if you were selling the business to a US listed firm?
  • Managing other change projects as business grows.

What are we looking for?

The person must be sharp, committed, a good communicator, question processes and challenge them such that the final solution for our business is the best possible one, not just one that mirrors the previous, probably sub-optimal, processes that the business has been working with.  This is more important than hiring a less capable individual who has just implemented the particular piece of software that is eventually selected.
