My client, a large US listed FMCG business requires a senior controller to lead the accounting function for EMEA, including directly managing Group reporting functions for the division, championing USGAAP and local accounting compliance & SOX, developing a target systems and organizational model for country & shared services, & being responsible for financial management of divisional HQ budget. In conjunction with this, this role will be the regional lead for coordinating with corporate functions such as tax & treasury.
Key Responsibilities
Managing the following teams of directors and reports:
Group Reporting
- On time & accurate group closing.
- Driving best practices in close cycle.
- Managing group level controls & reviews & SOX transformation.
- Developing, reviewing & communicating group & EMEA accounting policies.
- Providing technical support for key matters.
- Supporting acquisition accounting & integration.
- Financial Management of multiple EMEA and global holding and financing companies.
HQ divisional budgets
- Developing plans & forecasts for Divisional HQ .
- Accounting & closing for the HQ functions.
- Providing incisive management information to budget holders.
- Identifying ways to improve divisional profitability.
- Providing financial management of key IT investments, capex & allocations.
Systems Governance
- Managing implementation of new system in smaller countries where we have yet to rollout the standard platform.
- Provide user community support & deliver governance processes.
- Support key projects developing the platform & integrating with other systems.
- Development of world class management information
Shared services and Organisational Development
- Develop and deliver the future state organisational model for Finance & Accounting in EMEA (shared services, country finance & business partnering)
- Facilitate the development of standard operating approaches in EMEA in conjunction with APAC
- Champion people development across Finance to fit with the functional development
Staff management & development
- Manage and develop a team of professionals covering the following functions in EMEA (Group Reporting, HQ Finance, Systems Governance, SSC rollout Program, Financial compliance, Organisational development)
- Coordinate & lead the EMEA accounting leadership meetings including local leaders for Tax & Treasury, who report hard line to their functions
Skills Required
- Strong group / technical accounting background
- Experience in Finance organisational development / Finance transformation and able to develop a future state vision & drive change towards this
- Natural leader & team player able to work collaboratively in a matrix environment
- Previous leadership managing senior individuals and operating in a complex multinational environment, preferably with a US parent.
- Qualified accountant ideally with US GAAP & SOX experience.
