A strategic opportunity that requires leadership at the highest level, through influencing, networking and engaging Board and senior management. Permanent, opportunity based in Auckland.

BNZ's Internal Audit team play a crucial role in safeguarding the bank by providing assurance to the Board and senior management to help them protect BNZ and our customers.

About the role

As the third line of defence within the BNZ risk management framework, you will engage with the Board, Executive team and Enterprise Leaders at BNZ along with key stakeholders at National Australia Bank (NAB). You will highlight areas of current or future concern whilst enabling the business to move forward by providing assurance on controls.

Along with planning and executing audit activity for BNZ, you will provide thought leadership and technical expertise by providing leadership across the Finance Division as well as within the NAB Group Global Audit team. This is an exciting time for Internal Audit, as we implement new ways of thinking coupled with renewed areas of focus outside of the traditional path.

About you

You will have significant professional work experience with solid relevant experience in Internal Audit or Risk Management/ Assurance, ideally from a "big four" or corporate environment.

Ideally, you will possess banking experience however candidates with a strong internal audit background together with deep experience in operational, technology, or treasury risk are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will have proven excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills - with evidence of working effectively and influencing senior executives over a sustained period of time. Along with experience in managing, leading and inspiring teams, you will effectively communicate a compelling vision and have proven capability in strategic thinking and applying that to make sound business decisions.

Tertiary qualified, ideally with Professional (CPA/ CA) or Post Graduate qualifications with strong technically relevant skills, you will also be comfortable using data analytics in audit.
