Job description

Divisional Finance Director

Specific Purpose of Role:

This is a highly operational and commercial finance role embedded within Olive Group’s Solutions Business Unit. The successful candidate will sit on the leadership team for the division, and will be the primary interface between the centralised Finance function and the operating division, whilst also working very closely with the division’s Operational Managers and Project Managers, providing support on all financial matters for the Solutions Business Unit, which has a diverse product offering and annual revenues of over $60m per annum. Responsibilities will include writing business cases, pricing support, financial planning and the provision of high quality Management Information, KPIs and analysis to the Board and the Solutions Management team. Also leading on cost control, analysis of markets and competitors as well as end-to-end commercial control over selected client projects. The role will include international travel, including a potential requirement to visit Iraq from time to time.

Specific Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Financial planning and budgeting for the Solutions Business Unit. To include budgets, monthly reforecasts and long-term plans, covering P&L, balance sheets and cash flow.
  • Significant input into the Management Information pack for Solutions, with analysis of project profitability and performance against KPIs, for distribution to the Company Senior Management team and Business Unit Managers.
  • Significant input into the Period-End accounting processes with ownership of divisional, P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
  • Lead on cost control initiatives across the Business Unit. This will involve obtaining detailed knowledge of operational procedures, suggesting and driving through process changes to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Improvement of staff utilisation recording, reporting and analysis.
  • Drive the divisional receivables process, working closely with Group Finance to ensure revenues are correctly invoiced, enabling prompt collections.
  • Produce weekly cash flow forecasts, prioritising the BU’s requirements to ensure efficient management of working capital.
  • Lead on the provision of financial analysis to underpin business cases across the division. To include proposal pricing, appraisal of new product lines, capital planning, investment cases and entry into new sectors or geographies.
  • Ensure adequate financial controls are in place in the BU, continually monitoring risks, and maximising the potential of the new ERP system to achieve those goals.
  • Provide financial analysis on potential partners, customers and suppliers.
  • Provide financial analysis and reports of both an ad hoc and routine nature.
  • Close working relationship with the Central Finance team.

General Additional Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To adhere to the company’s policy and practice (ie written or implied).
  • Due to the changing nature of the business, coupled with significant year on year growth this position may require you to fulfil other duties as assigned by your Line Manager.
  • The role may require an element of international travel, potentially including travel to Iraq.

General Essential Capabilities/Skills:

  • A qualified Accountant with finance experience, with a strong technical track record.
  • An experienced Financial Modeller with a high standard of analytical skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships throughout the organisation and at all levels.
  • A high standard of written and oral presentational skills is essential.
