Financial Controller - MENA role
Business/Department: International – based in Dubai
Reports to: MD – International
The role is for Financial Controller for our Speedy International arm of Speedy. Speedy PLC was founded in the UK in 1977. Since then we have helped more than 100,000 customers achieve a greater efficiency and increased profits by streamlining processes, equipment and assets. Speedy International was set in 2008 and now has c250 people in the UAE, Egypt, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
People should be available for interview in the UK in February in the North West with the MD with possible 2nd stage out in Dubai.
Purpose:
- To provide commercial support to the MD for international and have local responsibility for day-to-day financial management and governance.
Key Accountabilities:
Financial Management (c70% of time)
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Prepare local LLC budgets and forecasts for all MENA locations.
- Present local LLC budget and forecast at PLC reviews.
Accounting:
- Prepare monthly LLC accounts.
- Ensure all local accounting entries are properly recorded (turnover and local costs).
- Ensure all intercompany accounting entries are properly made (leases, interest etc).
- Development and implementation of Profitability reporting.
Tax and Treasury:
- Maintain rolling cash flow forecast and future Capex profiling.
- Manage LLC balance sheet.
- Ensure compliance with local tax, banking and reserve requirements.
Governance:
- Ensure full compliance with international accounting policies locally.
- Ensure full compliance with delegated powers/codes of conduct locally.
Commercial Support (c 30% of time)
Asset Management:
- Ensure optimal use of assets across the Region.
- Prepare Capex and other investment business cases.
- Roll out project profitability reporting.
- Constructively challenge local management decisions.
Bids and Tenders:
- Prepare Financial Models to support major bids and tenders.
- Critically assess the profit and risk on new tenders.
Key Relationships:
- Local MD and local team on ground.
- Customer Finance and Commercial teams.
- Local Banks and Tax Authorities.
- Senior team MENA.
Key Measures of Performance:
- Delivery of local LLC budgets and forecasts.
- Accuracy of accounting.
- Compliance with internal reporting processes.
- Internal & external audit review.
- Quality of ad hoc reporting.
Person Specification:
- CIMA qualified with experience (essential).
- Ideally worked abroad/prepared accounts for countries outside the UK (desirable).
- Flexible and willing to work across the Region where required.
- Understanding of cultural differences to get results.
- Willing to commit to a minimum of a 2 year period in the Middle East.
- Comfortable working in a high pressure environment within a small team.
- Have a hands-on approach and willing to do whatever it takes to meet deadlines and get the job done.
- Be resourceful and be able to create meaningful analysis from limited data.
- Be challenging and be able to see beyond the obvious to identify patterns and trends.
- Experience in compliance may be desirable.
- High level of integrity and trust.
- Able to operate with minimal supervision.

The candidate may have knowledge in the Plant/Equipment/Asset sector.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate a proven track record on delivery of projects through to the end.
