Job description

Senior Accountant
Shardlow, Derbyshire

Harlan Laboratories require a qualified Senior Accountant for a minimum 6 month contract to work on a special project. The ideal candidate will have an accountancy practice background and progressed into industry. The role has excellent opportunities to be converted to a permanent position and the candidate will be involved in all financial and business planning activities, internal control, cash management, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, key responsibilities include:

  • Complete monthly close process and monthly financial and management reporting.
  • Executing corporate policies and controls to ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with US and UK GAAP.
  • Complete general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations and internal control.
  • Identify and develop process improvements that will continually increase the accuracy and speed of the month end closing.
  • Assist local Finance team with the planned implementation of JD Edwards system.
Requirements
  • Qualified Accountant – ACCA, ACA, CIMA.
Experience
  • Accounting experience in a month end close environment.
  • Practise accounting background is required.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, coaching and presentation skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products JD Edwards Enterprise One experience or similar ERP systems is a plus but not a requirement.
