A leading FMCG business are seeking an MI Analyst to join their Global Analytics team. The MI Analyst will be in a small team operating in a larger department and will support the manager with Market Insight Analytics across the UK. You will be responsible for the most sophisticated analytics across the business using statistical models to identify what is happening across the company.

The role is varied as it is project driven, and will include many ad hoc tasks to support the business, based on the yearly plan but average responsibilities will include data acquisition and completion of modeling projects, making them actionable for teams across the business (Sales, Marketing, Strategic Planning, Finance and IT), integrating results of analysis and models into the business planning process, delivering and conducting key intelligence projects and help present results to management and facilitating collection, manipulation and quality control checking of data for use in projects.

There is also scope to take on as much responsibility as you are capable of handling, which means you really have the chance to make the role your own. Being discipline, ambitious and have the ability to work on your own initiative will mean you have the skills required to be a success in this role and the business.

Good interpersonal skills are necessary as you will have strong exposure to the business, across markets/functions and from junior colleagues to stakeholders. You must be confident, motivated and be prepared to present your findings at a senior level.

Strong PowerPoint, Excel and system skills are a must (VBA and use of SAS would be beneficial) and familiarity with statistical methodologies would also be advantageous.

You will need strong academics (ideally a 2:1 degree or above) and experience in a similar analytical role. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of regression models in order to discuss these with the relevant people.

This is a hugely exciting role which will suit an experienced accountant, someone familiar with accounting for long term contracts, who enjoys being close to the detail of producing monthly integrated financial statements, but also has a leadership capability to be able to step back and take a strategic approach to delivering best practice governance and reporting, as well as developing ways to maximise the potential for profitability on new and existing business.

The role involves working closely with engineers, commercial and purchasing staff so you will need to have the ability to challenge other senior members of staff and provide the necessary governance to ensure a project is delivered on budget.

The role will require management of a small finance team so you should have the personality to take a hands on people management approach to mentor and develop junior team members.

You will have the ability to shape the financial discipline and to drive a best practice approach to cost control and profit generation on multi-million pound engineering contracts within this division which is why this role should be extremely exciting to a pro-active driven individual.
