The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has unveiled a new community of practice aimed at members affected by the latest financial reporting developments.
Currently in a pilot stage, the feature will take the form of an online discussion forum where ideas and experiences can be exchanged regarding the often complicated world of altering financial practices.
Many of the topics discussed will be those on which CIMA is planning to comment. The views of the public will be channelled into CIMA's consultation response process.
The forum will also allow individuals to share good practice and benefit from networking opportunities, and other news about which members may not be aware will be highlighted.
CPD opportunities
"If you are currently involved in financial reporting, active participation is an excellent way of helping to meet your continuing personal development needs," a spokesman said.
"This will be especially useful for experienced practitioners who may find it difficult to identify challenging CPD opportunities in this area."
Those who feel they could contribute to this community should contact tis@cimaglobal.com.
CIMA was founded in 1919. Initially known as the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants (ICWA), it became the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in 1986 after it was granted a Royal Charter.
